Quartz is highly resistant toboth mechanical and chemical weathering. Quartz crystals possess piezoelectricproperty, which is the ability to generate electric potential when subjected tomechanical stress. It is one of the hardest naturally occurring minerals andhence cannot be corroded easily. Pure quartz is clear in color. Color varianceis due to impurities, and this variance come in purple, white, black, pink andyellow or orange.
